Here we go!

A few days after I first saw my memoir on Amazon, I called a friend to share the news. This friend had been particularly influential in shaping parts of my story, and I wanted to thank them personally for their impact in my life.

During our conversation, my friend asked, “Are you glad you went through this experience?”

I hesitated, a bit taken aback by the question. Then the answer became clear. “Well … this certainly isn’t the story I wanted or asked for. But now that it’s been given to me, I’m just doing my best to steward it well.”

I think that’s a large part of our job as Christian writers, isn’t it? To steward the story well — whether it’s our own story, someone else’s, or the gospel story itself. We are to steward it well to the glory of God.

During my mom’s funeral, we sang the song, “This is my story, this is my song; praising my Savior all the day long.” Of course, I sang through tears — yet with conviction.

This life is the story you’ve been given. You can’t change it, but you can use it to praise your Savior all the day long.

STOP.

How will you use your story to praise God today?
