Hello! Happy first week of May!

It’s time for our weekly writing prompt blog link-up. Click here to learn more about how the link-up works.

This week’s writing prompt is: OPPORTUNITY

Opportunity

Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.

We get countless opportunities every single day.

Opportunities to be kind. Opportunities to love. Opportunities to serve. Opportunities to use the gifts we’ve been given. Opportunities to tell others of the grace and goodness of our King. Opportunities to give glory to God for all He is and has done for us.

Do we see the opportunities when they come? If we see them, do we take them?

Sometimes I hear people pray for more opportunities to share the gospel with those who don’t yet know the Lord. While this is a good and noble prayer, I wonder if it’s not more appropriate to pray for boldness to share when those opportunities come? Because they’re everywhere — at the grocery store, at work, at school, online — everywhere.

As I think about the countless opportunities He gives me in this life, I think my biggest need in that area is for discernment and obedience. Discernment to know which opportunities to take and which are not for me, and obedience to take them and follow through. To not waste an opportunity because of fear, selfishness, or laziness. To be willing to sacrifice and serve.

STOP.

Speaking of opportunities to serve, here’s one for you to consider:

Our friend Andrew Budek-Schmeisser asked me to include links for those willing to pray for Rachel Held Evans, an author who has been in a medically-induced coma for several days.
