This week’s writing prompt is: FORWARD

Earlier this week, author Holley Gerth shared these words on Twitter:
Growth actually looks like a series of peaks and valleys. When we mess up, yes, we experience a valley. But we need to remember that valley doesn’t mean we’re back at the beginning. We’re so much higher up than when we began.
Progress has been made. Millimeter by millimeter, growth has happened. We have moved forward with God’s help.
We’ve been reading through the book of Philippians in our family devotions, and recently read these words from the Apostle Paul:
“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14).

How quickly I get caught up in the things of this world and forget to look “forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God” (Hebrews 11:10).
In 2 Peter 3, Peter uses the phrase “looking forward” three times in just three verses:
“Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him” (2 Peter 3:11-14). Â

I’m looking forward to summer vacation and time with family–two weeks with the entire family! But when I look around the world, I long for what Paul longs for–heaven, where everyone is equal and we all accept each other without conditions. What would happen if we all started that practice here on earth?
Forwand: I look forward to Summer to becoming around the corner to see all the Fields that the farmers planted and growing. I look forward to see all of beautiful flowers growing in people’s front yards as I drive by and seeing them in full bloom. I look forward to being back in church praising and worship God and seeing all of my sister’s in Christ and my Church Family. I look forward to seeing all my family and friends again, But most of all I look forward to see what God has plan for us and me.
They say I should anticipate
heaven; just believe!
Yeah, that sounds really great,
but I don’t want to leave
my wife and dogs and all the rest,
don’t want to leave my guns;
this life is what I do the best,
and I’m still having fun.
OK, so maybe each new breath
makes me cough, fit to expire,
but really, dude? Wanting death?
That’s no way to inspire
those who follow me in cancer,
and finding in my words, some answer.
