Welcome to this week’s edition of Five Minute Friday!
It’s quite a momentous weekend in the US, as it’s the Fourth of July weekend as well as the release of Hamilton Musical on Disney+!
To say that my daughter and I have been excited is an understatement. 🙂 I’ll share more in my post below!

This week’s FMF writing prompt is: PEOPLE
My daughter asked for the Hamilton soundtrack for her birthday last July, and she plays it on repeat every single night when she goes to bed.
We gave her tickets for Christmas for her and I to watch a live performance in a nearby city this past February. It was remarkable.
As soon as she heard that a recorded original cast performance would release on Disney+ on July 3rd, she added a countdown app to my phone to mark the days.
She asked me to buy black and gold nail polish and black and gold candy for the occasion.
Today she set three separate alarms in her room for 3am EST so she can get up to watch it as soon as it releases.
For my biracial teenager, the Hamilton Musical is not just a performance. It’s so much more than entertainment.
It’s a display of breathtaking talent by people who look like her.
It’s a celebration of the gifts, talents, and success of people of color. It’s an awe-inspiring display of diversity. It’s an example to the world of what’s possible.
Well done, Hamilton cast and crew. Well done.
