This week’s writing prompt is: CANCEL
Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.
It happened again. I keep breaking my promises. I keep telling my kids they can do things and go places, and those things and places keep getting canceled because of Coronavirus. Such is life in the mist of a global pandemic, hey?
But as I wrote in my post a few weeks ago on the prompt, DISAPPOINT, I hate disappointing people. And yet if there’s one thing I continue to be reminded of time and again, it’s that people and plans will change and promises in this life will be broken. We simply cannot trust in other people, circumstances, or worldly plans. We will be disappointed. We will be let down. The only One who does not change and who never breaks a promise is God Himself.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
May we continue to place our hope in Him, and remember that when plans change or get canceled altogether, it’s also part of His plan for His grand purpose.
His plans will never be canceled. His promises will always be fulfilled. And His purpose will never change.
He alone is all-knowing and all-powerful, even in the midst of a pandemic.
As we adapt and adjust to changing circumstances, may we remember the One who is in control. Always.
STOP.

They say that God is in control,
and that’s mostly true,
but this cancer’s on a roll,
and whom is kidding who?
Do I have a future hope,
or was Jeremiah lying
when he said God would help me cope;
is He even trying?
I’m not so vain that I think
this ain’t been asked, times past,
like when Jesus took a drink
from that poisoned glass,
and said, “Well, speaking as Your Son,
I guess Your will, Dad, must be done.”
Yeah, I know it should be ‘who is kidding whom’, but that just id not rhyme, and besides…
‘Tis for the cool
to break a rule.
It’s so easy to forget when things don’t go our way. Thank you for the reminder that we aren’t in control. Living in a pandemic has certainly taught me a lot of lessons about myself, patience, and my cherished plans (they’re not as important as I thought they were).
very true. God’s truth never changes.
Wow! I feel like I just left a pep rally, fired up for God. It’s so helpful to focus on the truth of who God is and that He is always there, no matter what. That’s a great way to start any day. Thanks, Kate.
Thanks for the reminder.
ALL WAYS & ALWAYS.
