I chose this week’s writing prompt to coincide with the Hope*Writers 7-Day Instagram Writing Challenge happening this week. I’ll admit, it took me a while to come up with something to write, but here we go! 😉
This week’s FMF writing prompt is: FRESH
It has happened to my twice now. I’ve had a headache for most of the day while working from home, then stepped outside into the brisk winter afternoon air to get the mail, take a deep breath, and my headache subsided.
I can’t explain it and still don’t know why or how it happened, but the fresh air just cleared it right up.
The other night I took my kids to an event where we would have to be indoors with masks for two hours and just before stepping into the building I lowered my mask and drew in a deep breath through my nostrils. I knew it would be a while before I could get another good, clean breath, and wanted to make the most of the fresh air while I still had access to it.
Some days can feel as if life itself has become a bit stale and stifling, like a drawn-out headache shrouded in a layer of fog. As if the air is covered in dark fabric and the light cannot penetrate. And yet, the Lord’s mercies are new every morning. “He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else” (Acts 17:25). All we have to do is breathe in His grace and goodness, the fresh mercies of His kindness to us each day.
