This week’s FMF writing prompt is: OBSERVANT
I am woefully unobservant. I’m not proud of it. I want to notice things — I really do. It just doesn’t come naturally to me. It’s a battle I’ve been fighting for years now. My kids laugh so hard when I say things like, “Hey, look at that new sign on that building!” and they answer, “Mom. It’s been there for weeks.”
My husband bought me a new phone for my birthday last year, mostly because my phone had run out of storage space, but also because he wanted me to have a better camera. (And yes, the lack of storage space was due to the thousands of photos already taken with my mediocre camera.)
In the days that followed my birthday, I found myself walking around outside looking for something beautiful to photograph with my upgraded lens. The detail and vibrant colors I could capture with my new camera amazed me.
I slowed down, looked more carefully, practiced stillness, and concentrated my focus.
It’s a habit I want to nurture more frequently than I do. Particularly when it comes to noticing God’s faithfulness.
I want to walk around my life looking for evidence of His hand, then stop and take the time to document it.
STOP.

It’s great how camera phones have come so far from the 2 megapixel wonders of 20 years ago 🤣. I’m always amazed by the wonder of creation.
I wish I were observant
of every blessed thing,
and mostly for the servant
who’s also Heaven’s king.
I want to stop to see Him,
and not just hurry by,
but my good intentions dim
however hard I try.
I hope that He can somehow save
the moments gone and past,
that though I turned down what He gave
I have a chance, at last,
to appreciate His love and grace
and the smile upon His face.
Nice sharp pictures.
I really like the second photo. Love all the shades of green. =)
It’s amazing what a new lens can do. Love the pictures. I need a camera upgrade.
I love to play in the dirt. There is something special about getting to partner with God in caring for His creation. What a joy it is to take time to truly observe the many beautiful flowers in His artistic portfolio. Your photos are simply beautiful – I’m especially drawn to the hydrangea photo.
