Hello, and welcome to this week’s edition of our Five Minute Friday link-up! This is a special week because we’re also in the midst of the annual 31-Day Writing Challenge in October. A special welcome to any newcomers who found Five Minute Friday for the first time through this challenge!
This week’s FMF writing prompt and Day 8 of the 31-Day Writing Challenge is: COMPLETE
For my 31-day series this year, I’m sharing 31 Prayers for Writers on the Five Minute Friday Instagram page.
In each entry, I’m sharing a passage from Scripture and a related prayer using the ACTS acronym for prayer — Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication.
The following is my prayer for Day 8. Click here to follow along on Instagram for the rest of the series!

Philippians 1:6
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ~ Philippians 1:6, ESV
Adoration
Lord, You are the ultimate Promise Keeper. You always do exactly what You say. You have a perfect plan, and You always carry it out. Nothing can stand in Your way or thwart Your plans for Your people or Your creation.
Confession
I confess that I often doubt Your plan. I often wonder if You are really working, or if You have left me to myself. I’m sorry for doubting You, Your goodness, Your faithfulness. Please forgive me for my unbelief.
Thanksgiving
Lord, thank You for Your promises. Great is Your faithfulness. Morning by morning new mercies I see. Thank You for proving Yourself over and over again, even in the midst of my doubt.
Supplication
Father, help me to trust You with my writing life. Help me to press on and keep going, relying on You and Your strength to make me productive for the kingdom. Give me an eager anticipation to reach the finish line. I want to be faithful to the end with the gifts You have given me, but I need Your strength to sustain me. I so easily grow weary and discouraged, and I am desperate for Your enabling grace. I am weak and fallible, but You are strong. Since You began this work in me, help me to trust You to be faithful to complete it in Your perfect timing.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Lord, your plan is perfect,
but in it, am cursed?
I know it’s not divine neglect,
but this tumour really hurts.
I try to make each day worthwhile
with what I yet can do.
I try to laugh and failing, smile,
but in my heart I feel it true
that something I’m deserving
of a pain gone on far, far too long,
and if it’s not self-serving,
may I ask where I went wrong
to be marked for this lonely kill;
oh, God, please say You love me still!
I’m so thankful He is the Promise Keeper, Kate, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Thanks for sharing the word and your prayers.
I’ve always loved Philippians 1:6! He can be trusted to finish the work. I just got to hang in there.
Today’s word was a harder prompt for me. I love the promise in Philippians as well.
