This week’s FMF writing prompt and Day 22 of the 31-Day Writing Challenge is: STILL
“Be still, and know that I am God.” ~ Psalm 46:10a, ESV
Adoration
Father, You alone are God. None compares to You. You are omniscient, omnipresent, transcendent, glorious. You are the great I AM. You existed before time, and nothing is too difficult for You.
Confession
Lord, I confess that I struggle to be still. I busy myself with all manner of distractions and frivolous activities, focusing my attention anywhere but on You. Not only that, but sometimes I even think that I am God. Maybe more often than sometimes. I may not come out and say it in so many words, but my thoughts and my actions reveal me.
Thanksgiving
Thank You, Father, for being God. Thank You for being my God. Thank You for inviting me to be still. Thank You for inviting me to come to You to find rest. Thank You for being a safe place where I can find refuge and lasting peace in the midst of the storm of this broken world.
Supplication
Lord, help me to be still in my writing life. Help me to know that You are God. Help me to rest in that truth and that reality, and help me to use the words I write to reflect that trust. Father, I need stillness to be able to hear Your voice, and I need to hear Your voice if I am to write for You. Give me the stillness I need to rest in You so I can be more fruitful in the coming days for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

A grim dark stillness is enforced
in this Night of Nights,
and my heart must stay the course
through the Dimming of the Lights
that once had been my animation,
hope for better days,
but now there’s only contemplation,
and I must offer praise
as my dreams and plans retire
from my ken and from my hands,
trapped within a frozen gyre,
and I hope God understands
and I hope He’ll have a care
for unshed tears I cannot share.
” I need stillness to be able to hear Your voice, and I need to hear Your voice if I am to write for You. ” Amen!
Stillness has almost become a craving for me.
