This week’s FMF writing prompt (and Day 29 of the 31-Day Writing Challenge) is: MORNING
During the month of October, I’ve been sharing a series of 31 Prayers for Writers. Here’s my five-minute prayer entry for Day 28:
1 Chronicles 28:20
“David also said to Solomon his son, ‘Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.’” ~ 1 Chronicles 28:20, NIV
Adoration
Lord, You never fail. You are the great promise keeper. You keep the world spinning and You keep evil at bay. You protect Your people in this life and the next. You fulfill all Your promises in Christ. You equip Your people and carry out Your perfect plan.
Confession
Father, I confess that I am often not strong or courageous. I am often afraid and discouraged. I doubt that You are with me. I wonder if the work will ever be finished, or if it will be halted halfway.
Thanksgiving
Thank You for promising to be with me. Thank You for never failing or forsaking me. Thank You for promising to sustain Your work until all has been accomplished. Thank You for giving me courage and boldness to follow You and Your plan.
Supplication
Lord, help me to be strong and courageous. Help me to do the work. Help me not to be afraid or discouraged, especially in my writing life. Help me to sense Your presence as I write. Help me to trust that You will see each project through to the end that You desire me to accomplish. Thank You for Your sustaining grace and for equipping me for the work You have called me to do. Help me to be faithful to the task, and to honor You with my work.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Lord, I’ve tried to honour You
in everything I write.
I’ve been faithful, I’ve been true,
but in this endless night
when I’m tempted, I must say,
to have leg amputated,
and if I might have my way,
I’d live my days sedated,
could You send back something more,
a healing or a sign?
A glimpse, perhaps, through Heaven’s door
to tell me, “You are Mine!”?
Please forgive me, Lord, this yearning;
it just seems so long ’till morning.
