This week’s FMF writing prompt is: EASY
Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.Â
I have had several weak excuses to complain in recent weeks, and I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve taken advantage of nearly every opportunity.
My doctor put me on a strict diet to get rid of a very itchy rash, and for the past 16 days, I’ve pretty much only eaten certain vegetables, eggs, and almonds. Then on Wednesday this week, I broke a tooth and now I can only eat certain vegetables and eggs. My husband has been sick with a bad cold off and on for the past few weeks, and as a result, neither of us have been sleeping well and caring for him has cut into my regular work schedule.
I get so easily disgruntled by these minor inconveniences, then I lift my head and realize the truth:
My life is so easy.
I have access to doctors and dentists. I have a car and the ability to drive myself to the doctor, dentist, grocery store, and anywhere else I want or need to go. I have money to buy the certain vegetables and eggs. When I go to the store to look for the vegetables and eggs, I find ample supply on the shelves. I do not live in fear of violence in my home or city. My husband only has a cold and not a more serious disease. My rash is improving, and it has not hindered my ability to work or function.
I have so much to be grateful for. Lord, forgive my ingratitude and my complaining spirit.
STOP.

Normally I would post a five minute sonnet as a comment, and write another for my blog link.
I can’t do it now. I hope you’ll visit and enjoy what I posted, and forgive my failing this week. I will try to catch up, and stop by as many of your posts as I can.
Cancer’s hard. I thought I could be harder, but lesson learned.
Here’s a try. Lame, but the TV preachers sometimes get to me.
Preacher’s smile is wide and cheesy,
comes off Walmart’s dental shelf,
saying that it’s really easy
if you’ve faith, to heal yourself.
Sickness is merely a lack
of that strong belief required,
so to stop Satan’s attack
you must simply not get tired!
If you just will shout Grace, Grace!
at the cruel besieging foe,
he will recognize your face
and then he will turn and go…
See, an easy smooth solution,
now please send a contribution!
It can be so EASY to complain about our lives and make excuses when we are too lazy or selfish to do what what we know is right.
But we weren’t promised to have an easy life. It’s better to stop whining and trust God.
What joy there us in hearing the Father say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Oh, heck, Kate, I duplicated the comment. I am sorry. Just not up to this today.
I do relate.
There are so many blessings we take for granted.
Hope your rash gets better soon.
Ouch! Breaking a tooth is no small matter… praying God gives you patience with these dietary challenges. I totally relate to the tendency to complain when I have much blessing in my life. So glad Jesus is full of patience and compassion as we learn these things.
