Welcome to the Five Minute Friday weekly link-up! Got five minutes? Come write with us!
Are you on the FMF mailing list? If not, you’re missing out!
This week’s FMF writing prompt is: COFFEE
Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.
Before I get too carried away with my post this week, I should make a confession:
I don’t actually drink coffee. (Insert gasp here.)
I’m a tea person. Some might say tea snob.
Okay, I did drink coffee in college but that was mostly to fit in with everyone else when we went to Steak n’ Shake to “study” until 2 o’clock in the morning and could get free refills.
Let’s just say I don’t mind coffee, but coffee doesn’t like me. I’ll leave it at that. I do sneak an occasional iced mocha in the summers, but I usually pay for it afterwards.
Anyway . . . not the point of this post. The point is, I do love to meet friends “for coffee,” even though I always order tea. Preferably a chai latte if it’s on the menu.
I love that in this culture (and many others), coffee is the great unifier. It brings people together. It gives us an excuse to pause from our busy schedules, sit down and have face-to-face conversations in real time.
If you haven’t scheduled a coffee date lately, I encourage you to contact a friend to set up a time to meet . . . even if it’s at your house rather than a coffee shop. Rich conversations can happen over hot mugs (or iced glasses) that often don’t happen otherwise.
Let’s carve out the time to invest in each other, shall we?
