This week’s FMF writing prompt is: BOTH
Setting a timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.
This past week has been full of contrasts. On Saturday, my two youngest kids got all dressed up to attend their high school prom. They both looked gorgeous. They say they had a great time. It was an absolute downpour with torrential rain when they drove home.
After a few more days of gloomy, cold weather, we got a good one: blue skies and mild temperatures. I walked outside and felt the warmth of the sun on my face as a carried a garbage bag full of my daughter’s vomit to the trash.
A week of contrasts.
I wrote about it on Instagram:
I stopped to capture this image on my way back into the house after carrying a trash bag filled with my daughter’s vomit out to the garbage. We’ve had days upon days of gross, cold, dreary weather, and now this. Blue skies and warm rays of sun.
A few days ago two of my kids looked like royalty dressed up for their high school prom. Today they both have Influenza A and crazy high fevers.
These are the days of our lives, dear ones. Sickness and dancing. Grossness and beauty. Sin and Jesus. Death and resurrection.
It’s both, right? A life full of goodness and difficulty. And yet all of it covered by the grace of God. May we embrace whatever He sends our way, in His strength.
