It’s link-up time! Welcome to this week’s edition of the Five Minute Friday link-up. We gather every week around a single word prompt, set a timer for five minutes, and write our hearts out.
This month, many of us are participating in the annual 31-Day Writing Challenge. We’re in the final third! 🙂
This week’s FMF writing prompt is: TESTIMONY
Today is Day 21 of 31 Books by Authors of Color, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share this gorgeous collection edited by Kristie Anyabwile. His Testimonies, My Heritage: Women of Color on the Word of God features a number of female writers of color reflecting on Psalm 119.
I told many friends after I read it that it had been a long while since I had read a book that made me fall even more in love with the Bible. This book elevates and celebrates the Word of God and dives deep into Psalm 119 in powerful and glorious ways.
I can’t recommend this one highly enough. It will draw you closer to the heart of God and increase your love for His truth.Â

Never read Psalm 119,
guess I have to read it now…
mate, I cannot make that scene,
and I hope God won’t have a cow
when I show up at Heaven’s gate,
with beer fumes emanating,
and St. Pete will say, “Oh, GREAT!”
and will thereby keep me waiting
while He Makes That Certain Call,
“REALLY, God, just let him in?
Can’t we just burn time and stall?
Let him through and he’ll begin
to turn Elysium, so bright,
into a rainy Glasgow fight!”
OK, first line should read 119 as one-one-nine.
Hey, I’ve been bleeding out (no, yeah, really). Sue me.
Oh, help!
