This week’s Five Minute Friday writing prompt is: FAKE

fake

Starting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.

In a world where “fake news” has become a common phrase and images and videos online can be manipulated and manufactured to seem realistic when they’re not, it can be tiresome to try to discern what’s real and what’s not.

Just the other day I got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Amazon’s headquarters notifying me of a large expenditure on my account, and as soon as I asked how I could know if it was a scam, they dropped the line.

Many people don’t know this, but in my 9-5 job, I’m the content manager for a company with more than 50 websites. I have several writers who work for me, and now with the rise of AI-generated content sites, I have to start monitoring the content I receive to check if it was actually written by a human. Not something I could have foreseen when I started the job more than six years ago.

Frankly, it’s exhausting trying to continually discern what’s real and what’s fake in so many facets of this world.

When I start to feel overwhelmed, I’m even more grateful for the unchangeable truth of God and His Word. He is ultimate Truth with a capital T. In Him is no deceit, and His Word is infallible.

When everything else in the world seems unstable, on Christ the solid Rock I stand.

STOP.
