This week’s FMF writing prompt is: SPECIFIC

In my post last week, I talked about how each of my kids’ departures from our home as they’ve grown older have left different shaped holes. I shared how I love each of them equally, and yet they leave different gaps behind.

This made me start thinking about God’s love for each of His children.

It could be easy to think that God just has a generic, blanket love that applies to all of His people — and in a sense, I think this is accurate. But I also believe the Lord has a very specific love for each one of His children. A specific love that pertains to each individual that He created in a very specific, particular way.

It’s amazing when you really stop to think about it, isn’t it? Though He commands the winds and tells the proud waves where they should halt, He also knows the number of hairs on each of our heads.

Though He directs the snow and the hail when to fall and when to stop, He also knows your every thought before you know it yourself.

He is not a far off, distant God. He is near. He sent His Spirit to dwell within those who claim Him as their own.

He loves you, and He loves you with a very specific love. He created you for a specific purpose. And he has prepared a specific place for you for all eternity.

Hallelujah, what a Savior.

STOP.

  • I really think it is terrific
that the Lord can see my heart
with a love that is specific
to the role and to the part
for which I was formed and made
    so very very long ago.
There is no test, there is no grade
as long as I'm content to grow
in the shadow of His wings,
    not looking to my understanding
    of the wild mystical things
that are hidden in His planning,
but smiling when I hear His call
to accept it, one and all.

    Four minutes.

  • kate.... thank you for reminding me of God's very specific love for me. Somedays one needs to hear such things. FMF12
