This week’s Five Minute Friday writing prompt is: TOWARD

Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO. 

I’m going to do something a little different with my five-minute freewrite this week. I offer you:

A Prayer for Those Going Through Trials

Lord, I pray that you would draw near to those who are struggling right now. Help them to sense your presence in the midst of their pain.

Give them the grace and strength to turn toward you and not away from you.

Help them to realize that You are their only hope, their peace that passes understanding, their anchor in the storm.

Remind them of Your promises, of Your faithfulness, of Your character.

Cause people to come alongside them to support, nurture, and encourage them.

Give them the courage to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel — even if it only comes when You return or call them home.

Grant them stamina, endurance, perseverance for another day.

I pray that they would rest in the comfort of Your embrace, cast their cares on You, take Your yoke upon them, and find rest for their souls.

Place verses, songs or hymns in their minds that will buoy them up when they are struggling to keep their heads above water.

Remind them that Your grace is sufficient for them, that Your power is made perfect in weakness, that Your mercies are new every morning, that they can do nothing apart from You.

Lord, give them all that they need to keep walking in Your way and following hard after You.
