Welcome to our final Five Minute Friday link-up of the month of June! I hope it’s been a good month for you.
If you’re new to the FMF community, you can learn more about the link-up and how it works here.
This week’s Five Minute Friday writing prompt is: PIVOT

Setting my timer for five minutes, and . . . GO.Â
In my post a few weeks ago, I lamented that my college kids were both going to be away from home this summer. I shared that my husband and I would be on our own at home all summer when many other parents got to enjoy their kids’ presence for a few months during the academic break.
My youngest had plans to work out-of-state for three months. I dropped him off at the airport, he flew all the way there, and the arrangement fell through. He had to pivot unexpectedly, and three days later he was back home.
Of course I’m thrilled to have him back, but now he has no job lined up for the whole summer. He has already applied to nearly 15 job postings, so we’re praying that something will come together soon.
Now I’m adjusting to having a young adult male with a huge appetite scrounging through my fridge at all hours, but I did appreciate his muscles when I put him to work spreading mulch this afternoon.
What we both expected for the summer did not happen, and now we’re both adjusting our expectations and waiting to see which doors God will open.
Though we may like to have a plan in place, it is ultimately the Lord who directs our steps.
STOP.

I was not the most avid watcher of the TV show, Friends, but this particular prompt does bring up memories about this episode when Ross is trying to get a couch up a flight of stairs. I couldn’t let the opportunity pass by:
If you liked the clip, you should definitely look up the bloopers reels. 😉

And since this week has been full of Prime Day specials, here are some of my favorites:

NOTE: Speaking of pivoting, there is currently a server error on the InLinkz platform that I use for link-ups, so we’re on a temporary pause until it’s back up and running. In the meantime, feel free to share your post as a comment below and/or in the Five Minute Friday Community Group on Facebook.Â

This prompt means a lot to me, so here’s my link:

With cancer getting kind of unbearable, I had given up on dreams, and took on make-work instead, to keep busy. I built a lot of cool things, but it was like crocheting in God’s Waiting Room.
Now I’m back to building a truly badass aeroplane, one I intend to live long enough to fly. Parts get built on my bed, atop dog crates, and on kitchen counters.
Yes, Barb’s had her name submitted to Pope Leo for canonization.
Such a cool thing you’re doing, Andrew! Good for you!
