Hello, friends! If you’re in the northern hemisphere, I hope you’re having a wonderful summer! (And if you’re in the southern hemisphere, I hope you’re having a wonderful winter!) 😉 My ten years in Cape Town, South Africa won’t let me think about seasons the same way ever again . . . 😉

This week’s FMF writing prompt is: WORLD

Ready? GO.
I chose this prompt several weeks ago, and when I opened my blog to write today, I admit the first thing that came to mind was, “What is wrong with the world today?!”
Of course I know the answer: sin. Sin is what is wrong with the world. All of the brokenness, the hurt, the pain, the sadness, the crime, the wrong in the world can be traced back to the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
In many ways, that reality is discouraging. But it’s also encouraging, because it means there is hope.
There is hope for our future — both in this life, and in the next.
Because God has given us a solution for sin through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the answer.
Through the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ coming down from heaven, dying on the cross, resurrecting from the dead, and ascending into heaven, we have hope that sin does not have the final victory. Death, destruction, wicked, and evil have been conquered through Christ’s finished work on the cross.
I don’t know about you, but that gives me tremendous hope.
It helps me look forward to eternity with my Savior, where there will be no more death, crying, or pain.
But it also spurs me on to share the good news with those who have not yet believed. Believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ and obeying God’s Word is the only way we can experience true and lasting positive transformation.
It’s the only way this world will ever change, until Jesus returns.
STOP.

Well, no-one is ever gonna say I’m broad-minded.
I think I know what is wrong
with the world we have today.
It’s the abdication of the strong
from the path of The Way.
We tolerate the heathen mores,
pay homage to pagan ritual,
and dare not even minor forays
to avoid playing the fool.
Tolerance must be buried deep,
and understanding spread as ash;
for, from these the demons creep,
and must now feel the lash.
They are God’s children, yes, it’s true,
but it’s time to beat them black and blue.
Awesome, Andrew! I’m not broad-minded, either.
😉
I was talking to a friend the other day about the world and the church. It seems to me that they look a lot alike. The church wants to be different and be not persecuted by the world but are we and why wouldn’t we want to be.
The world hates believers and the church and always will. I don’t think this is a new phenomenon. We seem to be more aware of it in this decade and it makes us uncomfortable. But Jesus said the world will hate you because it hated me. Our job is not to make them like us but to love them but never conform to the world.
I have had a season of sifting and I realize how much I had conformed to the world. This came back from my “overseas worker” training to be contextual but this is very tricky in the American culture. I learned the hard way that being in the world and of the world is a fine line.
Remember the words of Jesus to know the difference.
So true, Donna! Thank you for sharing.
Kate, we went the same route with WORLD. And, that Andrew and his poetry – he’s always right on, isn’t he!!!
Kate, this is what I will be thinking on today >>> “Believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ and obeying God’s Word is the only way we can experience true and lasting positive transformation.”
Believing + Obeying = True + Positive Transformation
Amen!
I agree – it gives us tremendous hope!! And I’m looking forward to eternity, too! Thanks Kate – have a great weekend ahead!
It’s good to remember there is a solution for sin – JESUS!
Sometimes, in the midst of all the negative, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we do know the solution.
We were created in this world to live for his glory and are purpose in our life for the glory for Him. Each of us need to tell people about Jesus. Each of us have a ministry to share Jesus to people in the world.
